Google for the Environent with GreenSear.ch

Next time you Google, try GreenSear.ch

With (nearly) the same search results as Google, on GreenSear.ch you can find what you're looking for and benefit an environmental organization.

Every time you search using greensearch, you help the environment by generating money from advertising. Using Google's AdWord service, each time you click one of the text links next to your search results, an advertiser pays a small fee to greensearch. We then donate the money to a national environmental non-profit.

This month's charity is Natural Resources Defense Council. The amount generated is posted on the home page. As of today the grand total is $28.21.

Ummm… have they checked this with Google? Asking for clicks on ads, which that would count as, is against their AdSense TOS. Unless they have a special agreement, that’s a major problem.

Green Sahm has a good point. As the creator of greensear.ch, it’s a big concern for me. However, Google has made big improvements to their AdWords system that automatically blocks fraudulent behavior.

The current version of Greensear.ch is still a beta to see if people are receptive to the idea. Going forward there are other plans for generating revenue that don’t depend on Adwords. At that point, it will be fully complaint with the TOS.

    Thanks for checking it out!
